Actions available on desk phones

Explore the range of actions like call transfers or holding you can perform on Yealink desk phones purchased and provisioned through DialLink's phone system.

This article lists the everyday call actions that are available on desk phones provisioned with the DialLink phone system.

Models covered

The actions below are available on desk phones purchased from DialLink, in the models listed below. Yealink phones share the same underlying interface pattern (physical or on-screen keys for Talk, Hold, Transfer, and Message), so the steps work the same way across a desk phone, a DECT handset, or the CP965 touchscreen.

If you're using your own desk phone provisioned to work with the DialLink system, these actions may still be available, but the exact steps to perform them can differ depending on your phone's model.

Models:

  • Yealink T34W

  • Yealink T73W

  • Yealink T74W

  • Yealink T85W

  • Yealink W76P Bundle (W70B base station with W56H handset)

  • Yealink W56H Wireless DECT Handset (W76P Bundle add-on)

  • Yealink CP965

Make a call to a phone number

Dial the number on the keypad, then press Send, Talk, or the Call softkey (or tap Call on the CP965).

Make a call to an extension

Dial the extension, which is typically 3 to 6 digits, then press Send or Talk.

Note: This only works if your account has extension dialing turned on.

Receive a call

When a call comes in, whether it's dialed directly or routed to you through a ring group, call queue, or auto receptionist, your desk phone rings. To answer it, pick up the handset, press Speaker, or press the flashing line key or Answer softkey (tap Answer on the CP965).

Hold a call

Press the Hold key during a call. On the CP965, tap Hold on screen.

Receive a parallel call

If a second call comes in while you're already on a call, it will show up as a new incoming call on your screen. First, put your current call on hold using the Hold steps above. Then answer the incoming call by pressing Answer.

Resume a call

Press Resume, or select the held call from the screen, to pick it back up.

Voicemail access

Press the Message key, which is already set up to dial your voicemail, or dial *98 directly. Either way, you'll be taken into an automated system that plays your unread messages. Only unread voicemails are played, oldest first, and there's no way to hear already-read messages from the phone.

After each message plays, you'll hear a short announcement with your options: press 1 to go to the next message, 2 to replay the current one, 3 to forward it to an extension, or 7 to delete it. Choosing any of these marks that voicemail as read.

Blind transfer of an answered call

Press Transfer, dial the extension or number you're sending the call to, then complete the transfer right away without waiting for the other party to answer.

Attended (warm) transfer

Press Transfer, dial the extension or number, and wait for the other party to answer so you can announce the call. Once they've picked up, simply hang up to complete the handoff.

Record a call

If automated call recording is turned on for your line, calls are recorded automatically as soon as they connect. There's no key to press or setting to toggle on the phone itself, recording happens in the background based on your account configuration.

Contact book access

Press the Directory key (or tap Directory on the CP965) to browse your contacts. Select a contact and press Call, or tap it on the CP965, to dial directly from the list.
