What is caller ID?

A caller ID name (also known as CNAM) is the name your customers see when you call them. It helps your calls stand out and makes it easier to connect with recipients.
With DialLink, you can configure a caller ID name to display your personal or company name when placing outbound calls.

Can I choose any name to display for my caller ID?

The outgoing caller ID name you choose must meet these requirements:

  • A maximum of 15 characters.

  • Can only include letters (A-Z, a-z), numbers (0-9), periods (.), commas (,), and spaces ( ).

  • No special characters, such as "+" or "&", are allowed.

  • The caller ID name must relate to your business name or the name of the business contact on your US carrier registration. If there is no visible relationship, the request will be rejected.

Can caller ID names be associated with toll-free numbers and ported numbers?

Yes, the caller ID name can be associated with toll-free numbers and ported numbers.

Does the recipient's carrier also affect whether the caller ID name appears on their screen?

Yes. The appearance of a caller ID name on the recipient's screen depends partly on their carrier and not just on DialLink. This is a common industry practice.
