Number porting is the process of moving your existing phone number(s) from your current service provider to DialLink. It allows you to continue using your familiar number(s) while taking advantage of all the features and services DialLink offers.
This article covers the number porting process for US & CA numbers only. For international numbers, refer to the dedicated article on international number porting.
How it works
When you request a number port, DialLink works directly with your current provider to transfer your number(s). This process usually takes between 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your current provider. Once complete, your number(s) will be fully active on DialLink, and you will receive email updates throughout the process.
Key points about the porting process:
Keep your number active with your current provider until the port is complete. If the number is deactivated, it may be lost and cannot be ported.
After the port is completed, you may temporarily be unable to receive messages for up to 3 business days.
Follow the steps carefully to help ensure the porting request is processed without delays.
The process partially depends on your current carrier, and these steps are outside of DialLink’s control. Ready to port? Let's begin with the preparation steps.
