If you need to change your existing phone number, there are two available options depending on whether you want to immediately replace the old number or keep it active for a transition period.
Option 1: Replace and delete the old number
Important: Choosing this option will permanently delete your old phone number. Once deleted, you will no longer have access to any associated data, including voicemails, text messages, recorded calls, and call history. This action cannot be undone.
Step 1: Delete the Old Phone Number
Delete the old phone number by following the instructions in the relevant article.
Step 2: Purchase a New Phone Number
Purchase a new phone number by following the instructions in the Add New Numbers article.
Step 3: Assign the New Number
Assign the new phone number to the same destination as the old number (user, ring group, call queue, etc.).
Refer to the Assign and Reassign Numbers article for detailed instructions.
Option 2: Transition to a new number
This option is recommended if you want to start using a new number while keeping the old one active during a transition period. Note that adding a second phone number will incur additional costs.
Step 1: Purchase a new phone number
Purchase a new phone number by following the instructions in the Add New Numbers article.
Step 2: Assign a new number
Assign the new phone number to the same destination as the old number (user, ring group, call queue, etc.).
Refer to the Assign and Reassign Numbers article for detailed instructions.
Step 3: Set up call forwarding
Configure permanent call forwarding from the old phone number to the new phone number. This ensures you do not miss calls from customers who continue dialing the old number.
Refer to the Call Forwarding article for configuration instructions.
Note: If you delete the old phone number, any call forwarding configured for that number will stop working.
