What are metered rates?

Metered rates are charges that apply to specific services outside of your subscription. These charges are based on actual usage rather than a fixed monthly fee.

Usage-based services subject to metered charges

Explore what services are applicable for metered charges and what are rates for them.

Toll-free inbound and outbound calls

Toll-free inbound and outbound calls are not included in the subscription plan and billed based on metered rates.

International calling and messaging

Calls and text messages made outside the US and Canada are not included in the base subscription and are billed separately as metered usage.

WhatsApp for Business messaging

WhatsApp for Business messages are charged per message at the same rate as domestic SMS.

RCS messaging

RCS messages are charged per message at the same rate as domestic SMS.

AI voice agent calls

Calls handled by AI voice agents are billed separately from standard calling rates. These charges do not use your plan’s included minutes and are billed separately.

Domestic calling and messaging

Calling and messaging within the United States and Canada are included in all subscription plans: Essential, Professional, and Enterprise.

However, usage is subject to a Fair Usage Policy, which sets reasonable limits for typical business use.

If you exceed these limits, you can purchase additional packages of minutes and messages:

1) Minute packages you can purchase:

  • 500 minutes

  • 1,000 minutes

  • 2,500 minutes

  • 5,000 minutes

2) Message packages you can purchase:

  • 500 messages

  • 1,000 messages

  • 2,500 messages

  • 5,000 messages

Once purchased, the additional minutes and messages will be added to your plan.

Other services

The following services are also billed based on usage:

  • Call recording

  • AI-powered speech-to-text (calls and voicemail)

  • AI-powered text-to-speech (greetings and IVRs)

FAQ

How does DialLink charge for usage-based services?

DialLink uses a credit balance to charge for usage-based services.

To learn how to add funds to your account, refer to the Top Up Your Credit Balance article.

If your credit balance is insufficient or empty, DialLink will automatically charge the bank card linked to your account for any metered usage.

How to check a metered usage

You can view a detailed breakdown of all usage-based services charges in your account.

To access this information:

  1. Go to Company Settings

  2. Open the Billing section

  3. Locate the Balance Usage table

In this table, you’ll see a list of usage-based services along with usage quantities and costs.

To view more details, such as the exact date, time, and user associated with each service, click View Details next to a service.
